I finally decided to post something NEW.... and it's already OLD! lol..

I figured I would start with Halloween... My little buddy was Frankenstein...I felt really bad because Joey was puking the night before and that morning, however.. I forced him into his costume and then kicked him outside to bring me back some candy. I also told him that he better not come back unless there were Snickers bars in that bucket!

Here is little Frankenstien feverishly looking for at least one measly little snickers bar to apease is Mother.....as it turns out, our neighbors are JERKS, because not ONE Snickers.... I had to settle for a Milkyway instead.......crap!
Next time we'll tell the old lady to keep her Milkyways.....Just Kidding. Our neighbor, she is like a 100! But, she loves Joey, so we had to stop. He was figuring out how this trick-or-treating thing works. And yes, I took him trick-or-treating in my slippers.

I decided to take Joey out in the snow for the first time. Not sure how he felt about it. He kind of just sat there, then tipped over. We were out there for about 5 minutes. But just before we were going in, Joe came home from work. Just in time for the excitement.

I figured the least I could do was update the blog, I only spent an hour loading about a thousand pictures on to my computer.

I'm cracking up because as I look, my last post was in July and my peanut was 5 months! We are creeping up on a year. OH DEAR GOD!

Here are some Christmas pictures. I really need to get better at taking pictures. I swear all mine look like crap.

Christmas morning we opened presents, we meaning Joe and I. Joey could care less. Didn't care about the paper, the boxes, nothing. We helped him open his gift and he quickly sped away hoping that I left the bathroom door open. Since I didn't, he decided he would reek havoc in another way, dumping my fresh cup of HOT coffee all over the coffee table. grrrr.......

Oh yeah, these are in no order whatsoever.... I give up with that. Anyway, we spent Christmas Eve at Uncle Tony's and Auntie Karen's house. This is a family tradition, and after we eat and drink, Auntie Karen passes out the Christmas Carols and we sing until Santa arrives. The hour before (every year) we run around frantic trying to talk one of the MEN into being santa. This year, it was Bobby. He did a good job.

What is this...it can't be....Oh my gosh it IS.... a picture of Mommy AND Joey!!!!! Can you beleive it! And I believe the picture happened something like this.

Joe: Babe give me the camera and go stand by the tree. I'm getting a picture of you so you stop complaining that there aren't any pictures of you and the baby.

Me: Now? We just got here.

Joe: GO!

So it has been a while...sorry. I just find I have sooo many other things to do than sit at the computer.

Anyway, I thought I would post some of Joey's 5 month pictures. Joe's sister Kim took them and she did an awesome job. It was a little difficult b/c Joey can't sit on his own yet so it was a bit of a challenge.

Monday at the Races

I can never get the pictures in the right order! So anyway, Monday Me, Joe, Joey, Jess, Mike and Peyton hit Arlington for a rainy day at the track. We had such a good time and we are definately doing more of that. Here are just a few pics from the day.

So Joe and I are not holy rollers but it was important to us to get Joey baptised. He was baptised on Palm Sunday, which we thought was pretty neat. But OMG, what a pain the catholic church is!!! Baptism class...letter from the Godparents church....Godparents must be Catholic.....What ever.....We did it and it was a great ceremony. Long time in church though.

And I don't know why everything is underlined...!!! ??? grrr...

Anyway, the boy slept through the whole thing. Except when the holy water was poured on his head. He was startled, which no joke, made everyone else in the church laugh. The saying is true, "save the best for last..." He was a hit! Everyone staring b/c of the hair. No joke, the one mom kept looking back at us. Father Grady even made sure to "fluff" the hair after he drenched it. Too funny!

Blackhawks game

On Sunday Joe and I went to our annual Blackhawks game. For those of you that don't know Joe he is a huge hockey fan. I don't mind it myself. Anyway, this was my first time away from my little guy since he was born. We were lucky that Joe's parents agreed to watch him along with his cousin Macie. Anyway we dropped him off at 11 am and didn't pick him up til 8 pm....:-( Every 5 minutes I was looking at the stored pictures in my camera to get my fix... Anyhoo... I survived, but I kept him up til midnight just to play with him..:-)

As you can see we are in the nosebleed section. Actually, we always sit here, tix are $15 and they aren't bad seats.

So, when Joey was 2 weeks old we had him on the play mat and supposedly he rolled over....I didn't see it...

Well about a week ago, again I am not in the room, Joe had him on the ottoman and he yells to me "babe, he rolled over!" So this time, I run and get my camera....yup I was thinking....so I was crossing my fingers that he would do it again...So here it is...

My Little Fuzzy Wuzzy,

You are 1 month old! I can't believe how fast time flies. Now, I have been meaning to do this for some time now, but you see pumpkin, you never let mommy get things done. I have to say you are a bit spoiled. You always want to be held. Really though, I don't mind.

Your first month has been very eventful! We have gone to many dr. appointments, oh, and I thank you for gaining some weight, I don't really enjoy weekly appointments, we have visited 2 restaurants, church, grandma and grandpa's house, grandma's house, and a playdate with Peyton, Auntie Kim's house in Wisconsin.... my goodness!

You are already changing sooo much! You are now 8 lbs. You haven't lost a hair on your head, or your body, hence... fuzzy wuzzy. Your daddy and I have had so much fun looking at you, studying your fingers and toes, your teeny button nose, every little crease on your body. Your daddy has had so much fun with you that he is taking another week off just to spend time with you. You are so lucky!

Peanut, you are starting to become more alert, you look at mommy as long as you can keep your eyes open, which is a lot longer these days... Let's just try to keep it between the hours of 7am-9pm...Mommy needs her beauty sleep...really, she does! Anyhooo...mommy doesn't really mind hanging out at 2,3,4 in the morning... I just can't get enough of that cute little face.

Well Fuzzy, you are starting to wake up, little do you know you are getting a bath....:-) I love you to pieces my sweet pea!

Joey had his first day out... we had a dr. appt. If you notice, we forgot to put the little head support thing on the carseat. I had a panic attack thinking he was going to break his neck. He didn't. :-)

Holy Crap We Had a BABY!!!!!

I can't believe it...! All the fun started at 4 am on Saturday feb 7th. I got up for the normal morning pee... and didn't stop. I "leaked" for 5 hours!!!!!! So gross! Anyway, got checked in at 5:30....I had to shower, shave, clean the bathroom, make the bed...etc. before going to the hospital. I was in no hurry.

So after a quick exam, they decided to induce me at 7:30, even though my water broke, they wanted to hurry along the process. At about 2:00 I was having STRONG contractions about 2 min apart, but I was only dilated to a 3. The nurse, as sweet as she was, decided to "make" me a 4. She OPENED me while having a contraction. Lets just say I was crawling off the bed b/c it f-ing hurt! But, within 30 min I was feeling fantastic. LOVE the epidural!

Joseph was born at 6:07 pm on Saturday. What an experience! Here are some pics from the day.

Waiting for the fun to begin. I had a full room, both parents, Joe's mom and sister, Ryan and Ryan were around waiting for the big event. But as soon as the nurse said we are going to start pushing, everyone cleared except for my mom and Joe.
This is him right after being born.

This is us in the special care unit. Joey had what they call "grunts." Very medical term I know, but this was around 10 pm, the first time that I was able to see him. If you are not familiar with grunts, it is a condition where the 2 things have happend. 1) the baby aspirated fluid or poop and has it in their lungs and with every breath they make a grunting sound. They need to be monitored very closely as they can develop an infection and then pnemonia.

It was sooo sad to see some of these babies here. As you can see he had wires everywhere. I did a good job of not getting upset. It was just weird to give birth to a baby and not know what it looked like. Joe's sister was able to take a bunch of pics for me and that was actually the first time I could see him. Joe was able to take family 1 at a time to the 'nic u" as they call it, so she took about a hundred pics. ( she is a photographer and had her fancy camera that snaps pics really fast.)

This was the next day in the special care unit. He had to spend the night, the next day and then that night there...I was upset by this time. I wanted to have my baby with me. The Neonatal dr. finally agreed to let him come with us to our room, but we had to agree to stay in the hospital for another 24 hours. Of course we did, but we were told around 6 pm that night that he had to spend the night back in special care. That is when I lost it. They did bring him every 3 hours to nurse. Thank god I was nursing otherwise we wouldn't have seen him.

Well....Had my dr. appt. on Monday. Same old news....

cervix is "thinner" :-(

Mommy weight.....down 1 lb!!! :-)

That was the good news... Oh and the best part, after waiting for almost 2 HOURS!!! My dr. had a student with her..... you know what that means....... double the fun! nothing like 2 hands checking the cervix....

Whata ya gonna do? And...I was informed, she is with my dr. for 6 weeks....HA! I told her I would see her next week! :-)

Also, on Monday, we had our breast feeding class... or as Joe called it, the Boobie party. I think he was a little disappointed when all the boobs he saw on the video were huge and black. LOL! I was amused.

Oh, and get this.... so at the break from the "boobie party" naturally I have to go to the bathroom. Well the closest or only bathroom that I know is a 1 stall bathroom. Let me fully describe this bathroom. Ok, there is the big door to go in, with no lock... yes, no lock. and once you're in, there is a sink, and then a 1 toilet stall, very small bathroom. I have used this bathroom before, so I told Joe to stand outside the door b/c the door didn't lock.

He does. So this is how this next part goes....

Me: hovering the best I can....

Door: creeeaaaakkkk.....

Me: (inside my head) WTF!!??? Didn't I tell him to watch the f@#$ing door???!

LADY:... checking herself out in the mirror...

*you may want to know how I know she is checking herself out in the mirror if I am in a stall?? BECAUSE the gap between the stall door and the stall is like an inch wide!!!!!!!!!!!

Me: wipe, flush, zip, click.... "OH EXCUSE ME!!!! Let me get out of YOUR way!"

US: trying to slide past each other in the teeny tiny bathroom with 37 week pregnant bellies.....

Lady: unzip, peeing

Me: grumbling...stupid b*^&$!

Me: What the Hell JOE!!! I ASKED you to watch the door!

Joe: Babe I did! She gave me attitude and said, " ugh, I have been in this bathroom before, THANKS!"

What's up with that.... you would think he could have like...body blocked her. lol People are so f-ing WEIRD!!!!!

Ok, so I finally got my butt in gear and took some pics of the "not even close to being finished" nursery. Poor kid. I guess it really is all for me b/c I don't think the babies really care about their room until they are, oh maybe about 12! Anyway, here are the letters I am working on, what a pain.

I love doing crafty stuff, but my impatience gets the best of me. I want to sit down and get it all done in a day..... well my days are about 3 hours max, and anyone who has painted STRIPES knows it takes longer than that. So, tomorrow will be day 3! I just want to note... UM, Mr. Schuth...my jumping through hoops homework assignment is going to be half-assed because I am spending all my time painting letters for my son's nursery, I am sure you understand considering I have been teaching for 7 years and I KNOW HOW TO WRITE A LESSON PLAN! :-) Do you think he will buy it? Stupid Masters class getting in the way of EVERYTHING!

I digress.... Here are some pics: of the unfinished letters.

Dresser/changer combo without the hutch...b/c I haven't ordered it...b/c I'm lazy. That is why the wall is so blank there b/c it will have a gorgeous hutch....once I order it. :-) Oh and we are still waiting for our tall chest to come in...

Crib, with another blank wall b/c I am still painting letters.......blah OH, ignore the curtains... They are going to be chocolate brown with white polkadots...when my mom gets around to it...:-) once I ask her of course.... I am telling you, no motivation!

Nice huh? that's all I could think of. It's midnight and I should have been tossing and turning and up peeing 3 hours ago! 3rd graders beware, Mrs. Scimeca is going to be a total crab tomorrow...

Pregnancy update

Ughh.....first of all....NEVER have your "no, I'm not drunk honey" husband take pictures of your pregnant gut after hanging out with his friends..... That is my excuse! Anyway... I think my camera is playing some kind of trickery on me, I swear it isn't this big in real life... that is my excuse!
So, the other day a lady asked me if I was 7 months pregnant...I just smiled at her and said nope...due in 4 weeks! :-) Thank you very much!

Anyway, had a dr. appt today, the first of the "weekly" visits... HOLY CRAP! Yes, I had double fun when she not only checked my cervix, but ALSO.....my BUTT!!?? I knew I had to get that Strep B test thing where they take that REALLY long Q-tip and stick it in your vag...well it also went into my BUTT! What the F???!!!! Gross!

Anyway, survived that, no sweat. My stats are as follows:

Baby heart beat :153
weight gain 20lbs
Cervix: 1cm dialated
0% effaced.

So that is really about it for the dr. I will be back on Monday.

Oh we also had the hospital tour.... intersting, yet at the same time very boorriinngggg....... Plus there was this girl who was 34 weeks and her boyfriend or whatever pushed her around in a wheel chair because she was having "contractions." OH WHATEVER!!! I think she was full of it... I really just think she wanted attention. I was the one who is due in 4 weeks and she was moaning and making weird noises... I just didn't buy it. I could be wrong but please.... Anyway, I am very glad that we are delivering at Sherman. I had a choice between there or St. Joe's and I was told my Dr. prefers Sherman, well I know why. Very nice rooms, updated I should say, and the baby is never taken away from you while they do all that dr. stuff to it.

Now we just count down.... :-)

Furniture......FINALLY!!!!

Ok, well we got our furniture.....FINALLY! After many shopping trips and some returns, we went back to Babies-N-Beds in Hoffman Estates and decided on a set. I have found it is WAY easier to choose furniture when your baby is due in 5 weeks and the store has some sets in stock... Now, this picture is from the website, b/c obviously we are decorating with blue. But we do have all pieces, kind of, the hutch and chest are on their way. I will try to have some of the real nursery pics up this weekend. I just haven't felt like blogging lately. Is something going around? I am noticing others slacking on the posts.

Well on Monday we celebrated Dirksen's 31st birthday at Pinstripes in Barrington. Very nice place. We bowled and ate and drank. Not someplace we will be going to a lot. EXPENSIVE! 1 game is $7.00! PER PERSON! There were 12 of us there! You do the math. Anyway, we had fun, and yes the pregnant girl bowled. I didn't do to bad.

Catching Up

So Joe and I had Christmas Eve at our house, it was nice to have both families together although I am going to leave it at that...... For those that were in attendance, you know why. The above pic was taken from our loft. If you could have seen the amount of presents, you would not have believed that there was a recession. This was only half of what was there.

On Sunday Joe's brother Phil and his wife Michelle stopped by with our ADORABLE niece Macie for a visit. It was so nice to see them and especially the baby. It was a good test for us to see how the dogs would react to a baby. Niko loved the carseat, was trying very hard to get his teeny tiny self off the floor and into it. Then Zoe just wanted to lick her ...she was really good, until she saw the stuffed animal hanging from the carseat and she was trying to snatch it like we couldn't see her. Too funny. Macie was soooo mesmerized by the Christmas tree lights so I just held her facing the tree and she fell asleep. Until Uncle Joe touched her head and she had a fit. Oh well it was a fun morning.

7 months..3rd trimester begins

It's been a while since I did the belly pics, but I am really only doing it on the "months." Everything is going well so far. Having trouble sleeping. Doesn't matter how many pillows I use or don't use, I just can't seem to get it right. The peeing a million times a night is getting old... I know, I know, "just wait....."

I go to the dr. on the 10th, I will do another update then.

Next time I am going to try to take these when I am not in pajama's and when I don't look like crap. I think I need to get Joe some photography lessons.... lol

I don't know why this first pic makes me look wide.... could be b/c I am pregnant, but really, I feel like my whole body looks stretched.

Thanksgiving

Ok, well this post is going to go backwards..... Thanksgiving was very nice this year. We decided that Thanksgiving would be at our house this year and I think Joe and I did a pretty good job as "hosts." My mom and I cooked....that was a first time for me. We started early with baking then to the turkey.... I must say, cleaning then stuffing a turkey is disgusting..... BLAH! I don't eat turkey and I think I know why....gross...

After dinner and dishes it was time for....ROCK BAND! For those of you who have yet to experience Rock Band for Wii... It is HYSTERICAL! Here are some pictures of the concert...

My camera work is bad becuase I too was laughing. My mom told Joe's mom that we may be taking a trip to the hospital if I kept laughing ...They were sure it wasn't good for me to be laughing that hard.

Or so I hope. Joe and I had the opportunity to babysit for Jess and Mike on Saturday while they attended Dave and Laura's wedding. We had a great time. Although I think it was the longest I ever babysat, it was SO worth it! Peyton was SUCH a good girl and I was great to spend some quality time with her. She is still a PEANUT! Here are some pics from the day....

Joe's FIRST time feeding a baby. He did VERY well, at least I think Peyton thought so.

7pm and we are FINALLY awake! So we tried to get some "activity" time in.

And this was the scene for most of the day. Atleast for my bathroom breaks. I couldn't help but hold her the ENTIRE time!

I wish I had a picture of Joe trying to put Peyton's pj's on... I left him to the task since he needs more practice. I was getting a drink of water in the kitchen and I here "babe help, I look like Britney Spears in here... I don't know what I am doing!" You would think HUGE hands would make holding a teeny baby easy.? It was like he was trying to put clothes on a barbie. For those confused on the Britney Spears comment, think back to the bad mom pictures...

Oh, and Peyton was fine, VERY patient with Uncle Joe and all the fumbling. He did get the pj's on....backwards. But we didn't tell him that. "buttons in the back babe."

Thanks again Jess and Mike, we had a great time and can't wait to do it again.

So we started our baby registry today. Need I say more. I have to say, AGAIN, I am very disappointed in the bedding choices. We registered for the fish, not sure if I can fully commit though. Well Here HE is......This is the first picture of Joseph Salvatore Scimeca. As you can imagine Joe is on cloud 9. It was an exciting day, and nerve racking! I was more worried about consuming 32 oz. of water in a 15 min. time period, while trying to get my 3rd graders packed up and ready to go home. I know they thought I was nuts as I was trying to explain their math homework while sucking down 2 bottles of water.

Anyway, after driving over EVERY pothole on the way home my bladder was ready to explode. I get Joe in the car and we were off to the dr. After signing in, we sit, I try to ignore the throbbing of my bladder.....the ultrasound tech peaks her head to inform me she will be late because the B$#%@ ahead of me decided to come 20 minutes late to her appointment. The tech must have sensed the sheer panic in my eyes, or the 32 oz. of water I just chugged because she informed me that I could infact....relieve myself. What the ????#$@! What was the point of the chugging???? So I got over it and went... OH MAN!!!

Soo.... I hiked up the shirt, unzipped the pants, yes we want to know the sex lady..... lets go! So she lubed me up and the conversation goes something like this:

Lady: Well...um...well...it's definately a boy...

Joe: YESSSSSSS!!!!! (fist pump)

Me: How can you tell, where is IT?

Lady: Well it's right there..... (still have no clue) He has his hand on it.

Me: Oh GEEZE! GO FIGURE! Already they know that? crap!

Joe: Stupid giggle

Lady: Oh, now he is sucking his thumb.

Me: EEwww, we are definately talking about that!

So after about 20 minutes, we got to see little Joey bouncing around like he already needs ADHD meds.... jk, but he was SUPER active, I hope this isn't forshadowing...

Everything is normal, all arms and legs are there so now we just wait.....
